Last-minute gift-giving quickie!
A fun way to display and present a gift of baked goods.
You can find the simple tutorial here.
So, it’s a few days before Christmas and I’m cleaning the house, wrapping the last of the gifts and baking, but…I still had one more project that I wanted to try. It wasn’t a must, so if it didn’t turn out it wouldn’t be the end of the world. That fact was good to keep in mind, because (like most things) I was totally winging it.
I made personalized ornaments using ordinary glass ball Christmas ornaments, some alphabet stamps and a little paint. I think they turned out pretty good. I plan to use them as place markers for Christmas dinner.
Earlier in the year I had found a minature set of alphabet stamps at Walmart. They were super cheap, so I just couldn’t pass them up.
To fill in the rest of the ornament, I used the blunt end of the skewer and painted white dots randomly around the ball.
After I had paint on the ball I was stuck with a problem. I couldn’t set it down to dry. Problem solved. I attached a wire ornament hanger to the ball and hung it on our Christmas tree to dry.
Not including drying time, each ornament took about five minutes to complete.
I’ve had a lot of visitors searching for my salt shaker angel ornament tutorial since I posted about working on it a few weeks ago. Yippee, it has now officially been posted. You can find the tutorial link here.
It is quick, easy and a real best seller for craft shows. I have one left only because I saved one at home. Seriously, after gluing the heads, I finished 20 of them in an evening.
****Two weeks before Christmas and all through the house,
Scents and sights of the season filled the rooms and pleased the spouse.
The stockings were hung on the buffet with care.
Oh well, no fireplace! I will not despair.
Above the entertainment center was festooned with charm. With no mantel, it couldn’t do any harm.
The snowman decor was stuffed into a birdcage, and I was writing my Christmas lists as another year turned a page.***
Yep, that’s all I got for that parody. I have been thinking about these two weeks remaining before Christmas though. There is so much to accomplish in a short amount of time. I can happily say I am miles ahead of where I was a week ago. The decorations are mostly complete and the pile of baked goodies is making me very happy.
But, all is not calm. I still have masses of Christmas shopping to do and Christmas gifts I really want to craft. So…in keeping myself on track, I am posting a few of my Christmas tutorial links. They are, of course, frugal and fast, as I know everybody is in need of quick, inexpensive holiday ideas.
