Restyled Cabinet

3-DSCN5499Restyled Cabinet

Nothing special, I just wanted to paint something.

2-DSCN5483Restyled from a yard sale find. This cabinet isn’t old. I don’t even think it was made with real wood.

The paint job looked a little too mass produced for my tastes so I decided to cover it up. Actually, let me clarify. It was mass produced. I spotted these same cabinets at a local dollar/discount store.

I sanded off the little topiary paintings. It was too slick to paint as it was, so I gave the whole thing a light sanding to give it a tooth for accepting the new paint.

Then I painted it yellow…

…then brown…

…then white…

4-DSCN5501I painted it with the knob on. I tried, but I could not get it off.

I did all three coats while the paint was still wet. Ringing phones and potty breaks had to wait until the last stroke of the last color.

3-DSCN5499I liked the watercolor look of the paints mixed together. If a paint color looked too heavy in one area, I went back over it with a different color to tone it down.

Enjoy!
