Bamboo Burlap Chairs

1-DSCF2177New junk finds from this summer were these bamboo chairs. There were three of them.

The weaving on the back of one was broken so I decided to remove it from all of them.

After a thorough cleaning, I sanded them and applied white paint.

2-DSCF2181They then received a shabby chic sanding. I love me some shabby chic.

3-DSCF2184The real character for this transformation came with the new seat covers and matching seat backs. I used old burlap bean sacks from Nebraska.

4-DSCF2189The seat backs were made using two thicknesses of burlap with heavy duty fusible web sandwiched in between to give it a hefty stiffness. I attached them using upholstery tacks.

Enjoy!

  1. Those look great Cyndee, super save on those. What a difference. They look like they were pretty dirty and scroungy before you cleaned them up. Hope they weren’t stinky too. lol What will you do with them now?
    Happy creating and happy season
