I found this great file drawer at a yard sale and I immediately knew what I was going to do with it.
With a stand and a little paint, I envisioned a side table for an office, living room or bedroom.
There were no dents, but it did have a few minor rust spots. Sanding seemed to buff those out pretty easily.
After sanding and cleaning, I gave the whole thing a makeover with a satin nickel spray paint.
Old Piece Finds a Home
The stand I chose was meant to be. You may remember the vanity I restyled earlier this year.
I planned on including the bench in that project, but it had more issues than what I wanted to tackle at that time.
The seat was beyond repair and it was missing the brace bar between the legs.
It was the perfect size to fit under the file drawer. I removed the seat and added a new bar.
After painting it with an oil-rubbed bronze paint, I gave it a bit of distressing with sandpaper.
The Perfect Marriage
It was then just a matter of attaching the two pieces together.
I love the industrial/vintage combination of the piece.
