Valentine’s Day Etsy Listings

Finally!

Yes, Finally!

I have finally been able to unpack my Etsy merchandise that I had packed away when I was preparing to sell my house. Yep, do the math. That was eons ago. I had added things to my shop as time went on, but the things that were packed up and stored stayed that way until now. It was kinda like Christmas when I opened my boxes!

I added all my stash of Valentine merchandise yesterday.

I don’t have a lot of each one left, but it felt good to get what I had posted. I’m working on some new things made from a great “junk” find I found at an auction last weekend. Can’t wait to show you.

Enjoy!

Sliced Log Ornaments and Tags

More “using what I have” projects.

1-DSCN7285I sliced a log using our miter saw to make this jolly snowman ornament.

4-DSCN7291You know me, I couldn’t stop at making just one…

2-DSCN7288…so I made several for my upcoming craft show.

5-DSCN7293After a bit of experimenting, I decided to also make gift tags.

7-DSCN7302This time I sliced a skinnier log. The slice was made at a 45 degree angle to make a wider surface. I also like the way the sides taper at this angle. I liked them so much…

6-DSCN7294…so I made several for my upcoming craft show.

If you are in Arkansas City, Kansas on November 16th, come shop at the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Craft Fair.

New Scrappy Tags on Etsy

12-DSCN5875Scrappy Manly Tags

21-DSCN5890As usual, I couldn’t stop at just a few of these tags once I got my groove on.

12-DSCN5870With father’s Day and graduations coming up, not to mention birthdays, other celebrations and thinking-of-you moments, I stitched up a batch for my Etsy Store-Restyled Junk.

But wait!

24-DSCN5896I was also out of Scrappy Fabric Tags.

36-DSCN5917Since Mother’s Day is approaching even quicker than Father’s Day, I couldn’t forget the mommas.

Of course, the ladies also have birthdays, graduations and thinking-of-you moments…well, you get the picture.

Scrappy Manly Tags

Tags, tags, tags and more tags. I have been at it again. This time I was inspired by textiles that reminded me of the men in my life.

01-DSCN5814For the base I cut wool tweed upholstery fabric. It’s from a big roll I scored at a yard sale. You will probably be seeing a lot more projects using it in the future. A wool suit or coat fabric could also be used for this tag.

02-DSCN5816The next layer was book pages from an old Robin Hood book.

07-DSCN5831You can’t really tell that’s the book the pages came from, but I kinda like knowing it anyway. These rectangles were cut slightly smaller.

03-DSCN5819A blue jean rectangle went over that.

08-DSCN5834They were stitched on at a slight angle. No pins. No fuss.

04-DSCN5821

My collection of thrifted men’s ties made up the next layer.

09-DSCN5835I used a school glue stick to hold the silk tie rectangle in place. This helped prevent the edges of the rectangle from stretching and distorting while being stitched.

05-DSCN5825I stamped descriptive masculine words on muslin and scrap white fabric using 1/2-inch letter stamps and brown ink.

10-DSCN5837These stamped words were centered, angled and stitched. The sewing was intentionally stitched unevenly to keep the scrappy look throughout the tag’s construction.

06-DSCN5827More use for jean seams.

11-DSCN5841Each tag was embellished with a button and a jean seam.

A gold safety pin was also added so the tags could be attached to what ever I want.

Enjoy!
