Crocheted Sunflower Pattern, ~~~~~ Sara Evans Concert and Tomatoes

Crocheted Sunflower PatternCrocheted Sunflower Pattern

You probably think none of the things listed in the title go together, but welcome to my world. 😉

A few months ago I posted finished sunflower appliques in my Etsy shop, but I never shared the pattern. It’s summertime and we are quickly sliding into fall so I thought I should get that pattern done.

It’s quick and easy. I hope you enjoy it. You can find the pattern here.

Outdoor concerts and tomatoes are other summertime favorites. Well, at least for me, and at least for this last weekend.

IMG_20150815_174307503This past weekend was my anniversary and thanks to my hubby and Middle Kid I was surprised with a Sara Evans Concert. I was given very few details on where we were going. I kinda figured it was a concert, but I was thinking on a much smaller scale. We love a certain local artist and try to see her where ever she is playing. She is who I thought we were going to see. I was a little confused when we ended up at 7 Clans Casino in Newkirk, Oklahoma, but the billboard said it all. I know it is hard to see in the photo, but trust me, it’s Sara Evans. It was outside and it was wonderful!

IMG_20150815_192413052_HDRPlease excuse my terrible photos. None of them came out great, especially the ones after dark because I took them with my phone.

IMG_20150815_210858200_HDRThe concert was on Saturday, but our anniversary was actually on Sunday. Kinda hard to do better than the concert so we decided to spend a quiet day at home and cook a special dinner that night.

DSCF4862So what’s up with the tomato? This year we have the smallest garden we have ever had, but it is producing like crazy. We picked this huge tomato on Sunday. I think it’s the biggest tomato we have ever grown so we had to get the scale out to weigh it.

It weighed just shy of 1 1/2 pounds and was 5 inches wide. Isn’t it pretty?

Enjoy!

T-Shirt Crochet Shower Rug

I actually finished this a few weeks ago, but life happened. I was reminded of it every time I took a shower, but blogging while naked just didn’t seem right. Especially the pictures…there are many reflective surfaces in a bathroom and ain’t nobody wanting to see that. 😉

Turns out I was able to take pics without reflections anyway.

I made this rug out of necessity and frustration. The shower in our bathroom has a swing out door. There was just no way to keep the floor from getting wet when the shower door was opened.

I looked everywhere for a rug that would work. The dimensions for the space were pretty specific, but nobody makes rugs that size. I happened to be working with some t-shirts at the time and a light bulb went off. Why not crochet a rug to custom fit the area?

1-DSCF3578I went through my stash of t-shirts and cut “yarn” in colors that would blend with the room. The walls of the room are green so green t-shirts were a must. Matching the greens to the walls while still using the tees I had was impossible. That’s okay, I would have gone nuts crocheting this in one color. I added some grays and white to add interest and to save my sanity.

I don’t have formal instructions for this project, as its size was for my specific space, but I will give you the broad strokes.

4-DSCF3587-001The center section was done in rows using single crochet in the back loops. I crocheted a few rows of each color–lathered, rinsed and repeated until the section was a few inches from the shower and the wall when centered in front of the door.

2-DSCF3583I finished with a border worked in the round using white t-shirts and single crochet stitches. The border was stitched until the edges touched the shower and the wall when centered.

5-DSCF3589I’m very pleased with the way it turned out and am thrilled that it cost me zero dollars.

More Crochet In Etsy Shop

I’ve been doing a lot of re-stocking in my Etsy shop lately. That has been one of my goals for 2015 and so far I have been able to keep up with it.

These listings just happen to be crochet items. Crochet just seems to draw me in when the weather is cold. Maybe it’s time to change it up a bit. Who knows, maybe a few projects using different mediums will cause the weather to shift toward spring. ;0

Enjoy!

Lots New in Etsy Shop

Etsy BannerRestyled Junk on Etsy

11-DSCF2547The last couple of years have been jammed with lots of real life events (selling a house and moving twice, to name just a few) and my Etsy shop had become a bit dusty and full of cobwebs.

1-DSCF2929I’m not much for New Year’s resolutions, but I did set out to fulfill a few major goals I’ve set for 2015. One of those goals is my Etsy shop, so…

01-DSCN5384…I’ve swept out the cobwebs and dusted all the nooks and crannies…

16-DSCN4483…and added lots of new listings with many more to come.

3-DSCF2858I would love it if you grabbed a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and hopped on over to Etsy for a little browsing session.

Thank you and enjoy!
