Crocheted Sunflower Pattern, ~~~~~ Sara Evans Concert and Tomatoes

Crocheted Sunflower PatternCrocheted Sunflower Pattern

You probably think none of the things listed in the title go together, but welcome to my world. 😉

A few months ago I posted finished sunflower appliques in my Etsy shop, but I never shared the pattern. It’s summertime and we are quickly sliding into fall so I thought I should get that pattern done.

It’s quick and easy. I hope you enjoy it. You can find the pattern here.

Outdoor concerts and tomatoes are other summertime favorites. Well, at least for me, and at least for this last weekend.

IMG_20150815_174307503This past weekend was my anniversary and thanks to my hubby and Middle Kid I was surprised with a Sara Evans Concert. I was given very few details on where we were going. I kinda figured it was a concert, but I was thinking on a much smaller scale. We love a certain local artist and try to see her where ever she is playing. She is who I thought we were going to see. I was a little confused when we ended up at 7 Clans Casino in Newkirk, Oklahoma, but the billboard said it all. I know it is hard to see in the photo, but trust me, it’s Sara Evans. It was outside and it was wonderful!

IMG_20150815_192413052_HDRPlease excuse my terrible photos. None of them came out great, especially the ones after dark because I took them with my phone.

IMG_20150815_210858200_HDRThe concert was on Saturday, but our anniversary was actually on Sunday. Kinda hard to do better than the concert so we decided to spend a quiet day at home and cook a special dinner that night.

DSCF4862So what’s up with the tomato? This year we have the smallest garden we have ever had, but it is producing like crazy. We picked this huge tomato on Sunday. I think it’s the biggest tomato we have ever grown so we had to get the scale out to weigh it.

It weighed just shy of 1 1/2 pounds and was 5 inches wide. Isn’t it pretty?

Soothing Landscaped Waterfall

4-DSCF7155Oops! It’s been two weeks since I last posted. Sigh. What can I say?…life happens…nuff said…:)

Have you ever wanted to build a waterfall in your yard?

I may be a bit biased, but I think this is absolutely beautiful! Why biased? Because this waterfall was built by my son. He works for Quality Outdoor Design, a local landscape business. He built the waterfall as a display outside the store. QOD also happens to be where I locally sell my crafts and creations.

7-DSCF7158Unfortunately I can’t tell you how he did it, but there are a few things he told that I thought were very interesting. Check out the bigger rocks. The ones that are gray in color. They are not real! I believe they create the form of the waterfall. How cool is that!

9-DSCF7161He laid a design of mulch around the waterfall (and under it? before he started building).

5-DSCF7156I love the contrast of the different types and colors of the ground cover.

6-DSCF7157I have no idea how he hooked up the fountain thingy, but I love the way the water trickles down the center of the rocks.

3-DSCF7154The rest of the rocks are real. They were used to build, beautify and hide the edges of the “not real” rocks, and the mechanics and structure around the edges.
