It is only a five hour drive for us, so we left the morning of the 4th and got there in time to enjoy the huge craft show in the town square before the parade. My BIL dropped us off near the square as there was no way we were going to find parking. We had an hour before the parade.
Another fun and amazing fact: “Seward, recognized as “America’s Small Town 4th of July City”, hosts the state of Nebraska in an old-fashioned family celebration each July 4. The observance is unique in that the major leadership is provided by high school youth. The event adds new attractions each year and draws upward to 40,000 people.”
Look closely at the center of this photo. A streaker (well, he was wearing a red, white and blue speedo) came running out of the crowd and down the middle of the parade as he used a flag as a cape. It happened so quick that this was as focused a shot as I could get. Hmm, I bet his momma is proud. LOL!
Unfortunately I completely forgot to grab my camera for the fireworks! (face/palm)
You will just have to take my word for it that they were amazing, huge, numerous and could be seen in every direction we turned.
The next day we went to a local winery for a bit of tasting. 🙂 Yum! 😉 The winery is Junto Wines. Click the link to find out more about this beautiful place. I highly recommend visiting Junto wines if you ever find yourself in the area.
I hope you and yours had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
Kevin and Becky, thank you for a great time!
