How to Transform Nesting Tables Into Adorable Farmhouse Decor

March 13, 2018 by Cyndee Leave a Comment

I had such a strong vision for these cute nesting tables that I began working on them before I realized I hadn’t taken a photo in their original state. To be honest, there was nothing wrong with them. They were just ordinary, boring and had no character, but I knew they would look extraordinary and awesome as farmhouse decor.

As you know, if you have been a follower of my blog, I usually use what I have, purchase frugally and experiment.

I knew I wanted a few layers of color on the tables, so after sanding the surface of these tables I painted them with one coat of beige. They were originally dark green. I then added three coats of creamy white to the legs and one to the top. Does that seem like a lot on the legs? I wanted the surface of the legs to have complete coverage, but it all depends on the paint. Another paint might have worked with fewer coats.

Then I did the top in blue. I applied three coats with no apologies. It just looked so fresh and fun. It’s inner farmhouse was starting to emerge.

Now to really rock these little farmhouse beauties it was time to add the character. All the edges were distressed with sandpaper. That allowed all those paint layers to peek through.

And then the finishing touches that made it scream “Farmhouse”. It was on to the Silhouette Cameo. I designed and cut a checkerboard stencil and a “FARM CHARM” stencil.

I was able to use the same checkerboard stencil for both tables, but the size of the “FARM CHARM” stencil had to be adjusted to fit each table.

Enjoy!

Nesting Tables With Wine Label Transfers

Nesting Tables w/ Wine Label TransfersNesting Tables With Wine Label Transfers

I love these little tables! While there was technically nothing wrong with them, I bought them to restyle so restyle is what I did.

3-DSCF1594I’m sure the reason why they were being sold at a yard sale was because the legs were very wobbly. An Allen wrench was all it took to tighten them. The previous owners may have been stumped on what tool to use.

I gave all the tables a good sanding and applied a few coats of a light beige paint.

Each of the painted tables got a light sanding to distress, but they still needed a little something-something.

1-DSCF1704I found a fantastic wine label graphic on Graphics Fairy. It was the perfect finishing touch for the table tops.

Enjoy!
