It’s been slow going, as I may be making this harder than it needs to be. You see, I’ve been kinda obsessed with not leaving a big footprint (so to speak) on the walls of this rental home. Finally the reasoning of my friends and family that the landlord would not expect there be no holes in the walls from decorating has finally sunk in.
While I’ve finally accepted that advice, I still want to make sure the holes I do put there are in the right place with the first try.
Last month I gave a sneak peek of my living room with a wall I decorated with an old door and window. Since this dining area is beside the living room, I decided to carry that same theme throughout. Oh, who am I kidding? I just wanted an excuse to dig out more goodies from my storage unit.
This screen door was the perfect addition. Yep, I can almost hear you gasp and shake your head. My family kinda thought I was off my rocker too, but the charm of an old screen door was just too much for me. It didn’t hurt that I knew the history of it either.
This screen door was laying on the front porch of the more than century old house that was given to us to salvage. I’m pretty sure it had been on the house at one time, but I think it finished up it’s working life as a door to a chicken coup. The wood was worn and chipped in areas that could only have been done by the repeated pecking of chickens.
I WAS FEATURED!
