I may be going overboard on how to decorate without leaving damage on my walls, but it’s been over 25 years since I have rented a home and I don’t want to leave a mess behind.
ugly, outdated sofa. I’m not even going to give you a full shot of it. My husband had purchased it at an auction that I did not attend. (face palm) I DO NOT like it. It’s also too big for the space we have right now, so I’m pretty sure it will not be sticking around for much longer.
Off to the storage unit I went. With a basic vision in mind, I brought back an old door, an old window frame, a mailbox and a miniature metal bicycle that had lived in a flower garden at our old house.
The door was much too short to be visible as art behind the sofa and I was not going to hang it on the wall. It would have required wall anchors which would have made big ugly holes I didn’t want to leave behind. To remedy the height issue, I built “L” shaped legs on the bottom of the door.
The window frame had no glass in it, so it was very light. Two thin finishing nails was all that was needed for it. I thought about painting both the window and the door, but I really liked the old, weathered look.
The rest of the items were decor items I had used in my old home.
