Scrappy Flag Tags
I just can’t seem to stop making scrappy tags. These scrappy flag tags are my newest tag design.
You may remember the scrappy fabric tags I made a while back. I used lots of scrap lace and white fabric to make them, but…I save everything. I have scraps and bits of fabric and trim in a variety of colors, so I chose patriotic colors to make flag tags.
The base is still burlap. I really like the way its edges fray, and it helps the tags hold their shape. I frayed a 1/2 inch on all sides of the burlap pieces.
I used a layer of white lace for the white stripes that was cut 1 inch shorter along the width and the length than the burlap was.
The stripes were strips of red fabric that I layered over the lace. They were each the same length as the flag’s width.
Then the blue field. I layered it right over the stripes in the corner of the flag.
Each layer and piece was top stitched along the edges using white thread. I didn’t worry about sloppy stitches or jagged cuts.
The charms on the blue fields are decorative nail heads I had in my craft supplies. Buttons, beads and jewelry would also look nice.
I started with a set of three, but just like the scrappy lace fabric tags, I couldn’t make just one. I’m in the process of whipping up several sets.
Enjoy!
